A few words on why we are here, and who we are
Information on the web is increasing exponentially. New knowledge is being created at the speed of light. People are becoming newly social online by discovering "users like them", linking to old friends and hunting down new friends. Researchers across the globe are collaborating in real-time to solve problems. Informatics is merging taxonomies and crossing discipline boundaries. Computers and cell phones are becoming PDAs, which are becoming diagnostic tools for physicians, which are becoming available to consumers, who use Twitter and Google Maps and have opinions they like to share.
The times, they are a changin' . (Someone wrote a song to that effect once, right?)
In any event, we agree. In fact, you might say we are resilient ambassadors of such change. We use this blog to document our trend and research scouting, and to reach out to individuals in the smart mob. That means you!
