Online medical school

Some medical schools are changing their usual way of educating future physicians by developing online programs. This approach benefits the students by allowing flexible schedules for working students and students with families. This rather new approach is also cheaper than in-class medical schools.

While the online approach does require hands on experience and will include clinical and laboratory time, the time is less than that of an in-class medical school. This approach has been praised to be the future, however how will it affect the quality of future physicians? Will they suffer from the lack of hands on experience? Will they be lacking in physician-patient communication skills? Will they endure difficulties in their practices? I believe studies need to be conducted before we can fully state that online medical schools are the way of the future.
